Elmira J. Powell, PA-C |
Ms. Powell is a native
of Raleigh, NC. She received her B.S. degree in health education
and M.Ed. degree in counseling at University of North
Carolina at Greensboro. She obtained her medical education
as a physician assistant at Duke University. Training as
a physician assistant encom-
passes all of the major
specialties of medicine and primary care. Her work experience includes women's

health, public health,
primary care, and emergency medicine. She maintains national
certification in her field.

Kelly Dixon, WHNP |
| Kelly Dixon, WHNP, joined Central Carolina OB/GYN in May 2010. She originally received her Bachelor of Science of Nursing at State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1993. She spent the first four years of her nursing career as a labor and delivery nurse in the United States Air Force. Kelly graduated from her Masters of Science of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program in 2000, from the University of South Alabama. Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners

Certified Nurse Midwives |
| Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) are
nurses who have furthered their education specifically in
the care of women throughout their life span. The CNMs are
available to offer physical examinations, pap smears, contraceptive
counseling and treatment, preconception counseling and
prenatal care and delivery of low risk obstetrical patients. The
CNMs work in close consultation with the physicians of Central
Carolina Obstetrics & Gynecology who will serve as referral
physicians for any gynecological or obstetrical complications. |

Vicki L. Latham, CNM |
| Ms. Latham
is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill, with a B.S. in nursing. She began her professional
career in 1983 at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and
has served in clinical, educational, and management positions.
In 1988, Vicki obtained her Masters Degree in Neonatal-Perinatal
Nursing at Emory University and returned as Clinical Nurse
Specialist in |
| labor and delivery at Moses Cone and The Women's
Hospital of Greensboro. While continuing to
work at The Women's
Hospital, she obtained her certificate in Nurse-Midwifery from
the Frontier School of Mid-Wifery and Family Nursing. Ms. Latham
began practicing at Central Carolina OB/GYN in April 1996. |

C. Hilary Steelman, CNM |
| C. Hilary Steelman, CNM is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Biology in 2001 and a B.S. in Nursing in 2003. She began her nursing career at UNC Hospitals in Orthopedics and Trauma, before returning home to the foothills of NC to work in labor and delivery at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She obtained her Masters in Nurse-Midwifery from East Carolina |

| Janna Melsness, CNM |
| Janna Melsness, CNM completed her BSN at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1991, following the birth of her third child. She continued her studies in Atlanta at Emory University, completing a dual Masters of Nurse-Midwifery and Public Health in 1997. She has devoted her entire career to the health care of women, working as a nurse, nurse-midwife and nursing instructor from coast to coast. |

Jackie Marquis, CNM |
| Jackie Marquis, CNM grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. Her professional career started as an LPN graduating from Leigh Memorial Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia in 1968. She received her diploma in nursing from Norfolk General Hospital School of Nursing in 1974. After graduation she worked as a labor and delivery nurse and attended The University of Mississippi Midwifery |
| Education program graduating in 1982. While working as a nurse midwife she attended Old Dominion University for her BSN graduating in 1998. |

| In 2006 she graduated from Murray State University in Murray Kentucky, with a Masters in Nursing. She has experience in teaching at the community college level in Madisionville, Kentucky and childbirth education in Norfolk. As a nurse midwife she has lived in Virginia, Kentucky and Florida. She now resides in High Point, NC and joined Central Carolina OBGYN in April 2010 |
